Rewari district has made unprecedented progress on the industrial front in the last few years. A number of policy initiatives announced by the Government of Haryana from time to time have provided impetus for a rapid growth of industries in the district. The factors like, its ideal location on the National Highway (Delhi–Jaipur road), being in proximity to Delhi, its well developed infrastructural base like extensive roads and communication network all over the district, total electrification, a large pool of skilled manpower, all supportive social environment and above all the development of various industrial colonies/ estates, such as, Dharuhera Complex, Rewari Complex and Bawal Growth Centre have made Rewari the choicest location for industries and as such high-tech and high value projects involving foreign collaborations and investment have come up in this area. The prominent industries among them are in

  3. Rewari Industrial area

The products range is wide, such as, Motor Cycles, televisios, non-woven carpets floor tiles, beer, cotton and synthetic Yarn, metal cans, jelley filled, telephone cables, copper and brass sheets and circles, zippers, disposable syringes and heavy earth movers and a host of other consumer and industrial products.

There are 56 Large & Medium scale industrial units with an investment of about Rs. 890 crores. The annual turn-over in the Large scale sector exceeds Rs.2050 crores. The employment provided in this sector is more than 16,000 persons.

There are more than 2250 small scale and rural industries in the district with an investment of more than Rs. 65 crore producing industrial goods worth Rs.130 crore annually and providing employment to about 6800 persons.

The small scale units are manufacturing a wide range of products, such as, industrial brass and copper sheets, brass handicrafts, zinc oxide, Light engineering products, cotton texturised Yarn, cement etc. The industrial non-ferrous metal sheets manufactured in Rewari find a wide application in electrical and tea industry.

The industrial units in Rewari district are exporting a number of products, such as, motor cycles, cotton yarn, hand tools, slates, pharmaceutical, ceramic tiles to a number of countries, such as Australia, Singapore,U.S.A., Germany, Sri Lanka, China, Pakistan etc. The export from the district exceed Rs.30 crore annually.

There are about ten 100% export oriented units in the district which are manufacturing and exporting cotton yarn, zipper, television, slates etc, more such units are in the pipe line which will manufacture a wide range of items, such as, terry towels, beer and beverages etc. Investment, in industrial growth centre at Bawal in Rewari district is coming up fast. The benefits of centrally declared backward district will be provided to the entrepreneurs in this growth centre. The area covered by this growth centre would be 1200 acres, Approx. 106 industrial plots have already been allotted to the entrepreneurs residing within the country and to NRIs by Haryana State Industrial Development Corporation Ltd. The industrial projects coming up at Bawal Growth Centre would be entitled for capital subsidy sales tax exemption/deferment etc.

Udyog Kunj, a mini industrial estate has come up at Suthani in thisdistrict which has been developed by HSIDC It has 10 builtup sheds in the plot area of 47 sq.mtrs. each and 85 plots of 66 sq.mtrs. each for industries to be sent up by the rural youth. All the 10 sheds have already been allotted to rural entrepreneus by HSIDC and industrial activities in four sheds commenced. 25% subsidy up to a maximum of Rs.2.00 Lacs will be given by Haryana Government to rural youths setting up their units in UDYOG KUNJ.

The unit is situated at Village Malpura, Dharuhera Distt. Rewari and is engaged in manufacturing of motor Cycle/ Two wheelers up to 100 CC. It was set up in the year 1986-87. It has made investment to the tune of Rs.150 crores and is providing employment to approximately 3500 persons.


The unit is situated at Village Kapriwas, Dharuhera, Distt. Rewari and is engaged in manufacturing of synthetic/ Cotton Yarn. It was set up in the year 1981-82. It has made investment to the tune of Rs. 89,60 crores and set up a separate 100 % export oriented unit which is exporting cotton Yarn to Burma, Sri Lanka, Pakistan & South Korea etc.



The unit is situated at Growth Centre, Bawal, Distt. Rewari and is multinational company engated in manufacturing of Metallic & Non Metallic/ Zip Fasteners. It was set up in the year 1995-96. It has made investment to the tune of Rs. 25.00 Crores approx and providing employment to approximately 300 persons.


The unit is situated at plot No.1, Investate, Bawal, Rewari and a multinational company engaged in manufacturing of disposable syringes and medical devices. It was set up in the year 1997-98. It has made investment to the tune of Rs.35 Crores and providing employment to approximately 120 persons.



The units is situated at plot No.177-78. Industrial Estate, Bawal, Distt. Rewari and engaged in manufacturing of Screens, Classifires, Crushere and other equipments. It was set up in the year 1998-99. It has made investment to the tune of Rs.18 Crores and is providing employment to approximately 87 persons.


Traditional (Conventional) Industries

Brass utensils

The traditional industries of brass utensils is a prestigious activity of this district. There are approximately 500 families who are engaged in this activity. Basically, they carry on this activity in their houses/shops with the help of iron and wooden hammers/implements.This trade is being practised in this district for the last 400-500 years. The main tribe engaged in this activity belongs to Thathera caste. The main items being manufactured are Tokni, Parat, Karahi, Thali, Katora and Hukka etc. There is a lot of demand for these items in and around the city. These are also being marketed to big cities such as Agra, Kanpur, Bombay, Hyderabad and Pune etc. The families engaged in this trade do not directly sell the manufactured items but they are doing this activity on job basis. They generally get employment for ½ of the years. Now a days, this industry is failing day by day as so many people of Thathera caste have got themselves in gainful employment i.e. by way of getting employment in government/Private sectors.


Export of graystone (SLATE STONE)

In this district, there are mines of SLATE STONE at KUND (at the border of Rewari and Mahendergarh district). Heavy machinery is established at this place for curshing, cutting and rubbing of SLATE STONE to make BRICKS and Tiles of slate stone for house making which are exported through out the country.


TILLA Juti Handicraft

In the surrounding villages of district Rewari, approximately, 1200 people are working on preparation of leather “Juti” & making special embroiding on them. Approximately 2.25 crores is annual turn out of this Tilla Juti Handicraft.



DARI making

Dari & Khes weaving was also a famous handicraft in the district. Most of the rural women were involved in making KHES & DARI out of the “Kachha Soot” spinned on `CHARKHA`. But now this handicraft almost have disappeared except a few centers have taken a professional shape.
